This week, the principal of Zaragoza SchoolHouse attended the ECIS Principals’ Conference in Brussels, a gathering that brought together 33 leaders from intentionally small international schools to discuss “Learning Support & Implications for Small Schools.”
During the event, she presented a talk titled “Short-Term Student Exchange,” in which she discussed the international exchange and study abroad programs we offer at Zaragoza SchoolHouse. Through an interactive workshop, new connections were forged and opportunities for future collaboration with schools across Europe were opened up.

In small schools, connection isn't a luxury—it's the essence of the work: getting to know the students deeply, understanding their families, and building trusting relationships among the educational teams.
The event provided an inspiring forum for sharing best practices, discussing common challenges, and learning about different international educational contexts. The quality of the discussions and the exchange with colleagues from cities such as Stockholm, Havana, London, Brussels, and Stuttgart made this experience truly valuable.
ZSH’s participation strengthens our presence in the ECIS network, which brings together more than 30 international schools with fewer than 200 students, all of which believe that a small school size fosters connection, innovation, and educational flexibility.
