Phenomena 2023: Nanotapial

Phenanomena: Traditional architecture and nanotechnology.

During the second quarter of the school year, high school students have participated in the Phenanonemos Nanoscience contest.
To this end, they have investigated the use of rammed earth walls and the possibilities of improving them with the use of nanomaterials such as graphene and its derivatives.

The Nanotapial wall designed by the high school students combines the construction tradition of rammed earth walls and nanomaterial technology.
Rammed earth walls, tapial, are used in all countries, they are simple to manufacture and the material is available all over the planet, the Earth.

In the courtyard, using traditional masonry techniques, the Zaragoza SchoolHouse secondary school students made a model of a wall that could be transported to the competition.

Graphene: nanotechnology and traditional construction

Combined with a nanotechnological material such as graphene or carbon derivatives, we achieve a technologically efficient wall for night cooling and reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning during the summer.

The panel presented explained and presented the operating diagrams in great detail.
This is the project presented by the high school students in the Fenanomenos call, selected along with 14 other participating teams and that today has had the final climax in the Fair held in the porches of the Audiorama.

Science contests at Zaragoza SchoolHouse

A school science project participated by and in which we had contact with the Nanotutor, Lucia Gutierrez, who advised the students on how to incorporate the material, cost and properties of the materials.
The participation in this contest is an extension of the research work that we do from Primary and Secondary in constructive systems; through which we study Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as part of the curricular system of Montessori pedagogy in Zaragoza SchoolHouse.

During the science fair, the jury visited all the stands and listened to the explanations of the group of secondary school students from Zaragoza SchoolHouse.
